Andy Macdonald
Product Development Director
Andy was born in Bulawayo , Southern Rhodesia and was brought up during the Rhodesian War. With a great grand-father who was a lord of the realm, Andy had aspirations of being a full time professional soldier with the British Army. He come over from Zimbabwe and joined the Royal Artillery in 1985. After 7 years service he had a serious injury and was medically discharged from the Army. With very little support he tried everything and anything going from selling Fax Machines with Pitney Bowes, water filters, car sales with Fiat, numerous business ideas and was “semi-successful”, but was never completely satisfied before discovering computers. Becoming a successful salesman with Mela Computers selling Apple Macs, he started writing small systems in Clarisworks v2 (one of the first versions of FileMaker). Eventually leaving Mela to start an Apple Dealership with a partner, they quickly become one of the largest dealerships in the UK. The whole business was run on FMP systems written by Andy. However, with market forces and decisions by Apple the company was dissolved and Andy turned his hand to become a professional FileMaker Pro Software developer.
He has never looked back and over the last 15 years has written systems for ;- Nursing Homes, Opticians, Phone billing Platforms, Energy Bill checkers, Computer dealerships, Medical environments, Steel industry, Car Industry, Publishing, Graphic Design, Franchise Dealerships, Food Processing, Food Quality Controls, Cardboard Box Manufacturers, Sports environments, HR, Hotels and conference centres, Venue finders, Small dealerships, Wedding Planning, Golf, Education, AeroSpace and more besides....
As a result, Andy has a phenomenal depth of experience in a multitude of environments and can recognise similarities between industries and apply positives from all of them to help create and manufacture systems that are completely applicable to the clients’ requests.
